CONSERVATION : MANAGEMENT

One important aspect of the Palmetto Bluff Conservancy is to manage the property such that it will maintain and enhance its biodiversity. Palmetto Bluff has been managed for timber, agriculture and wildlife for hundreds of years. Traditional land and wildlife management techniques such as hunting, prescribed burning, wildlife food plots and timber stand improvement have all been employed to maximize the diversity of our landscape. These efforts continue under the management of the Palmetto Bluff Conservancy, even in many areas which are rarely visited, such as conservation areas, nature preserves, interpretive trails, wetlands and pre-development locations. Management goals vary depending on specific habitats and the species which live there.
