Life Here: The Lowcountry
Opinions vary as to the exact geography of that sublime, mystical region known as the “Carolina Lowcountry”, but one thing is certain: its epicenter is the exquisite labyrinth of rivers, islands, marshes and maritime forests between Charleston and Savannah.  And here, in the midst of that, is Palmetto Bluff.  It is a region of unsurpassed natural beauty, transcendent history, and a culture all its own.  It has its own distinctive cuisine, its internationally-known writers and artists and – in the Gullah inhabitants of St. Helena and the other Sea Islands, even its own language.  It is the Lowcountry’s unique charm which has lured visitors to these shores for generations, and to Palmetto Bluff, even today.
